Guide to Perfect Warehouse Lighting

To have a safe and efficient warehouse, proper lighting is necessary. There are several factors to be considered while choosing the perfect lighting for your warehouse. The process might seem daunting, but it can be fun as well.

What Type of Light Source Should Be Used?

Three choices must be considered while choosing the perfect light source for a warehouse. These three choices are-

· LED warehouse lighting,
· High-intensity discharge (HID)
· Fluorescent lighting.

Each of these come with their own set of pros and cons.

Earlier, HID lamps were considered to be the only choice for warehouse lighting. These types of lamps have the lowest initial cost. However, these lamps come with very few color options. These lights provide yellow light as they are high-pressure sodium lamps with a temperature of 2200K to 2400K.

On the other hand, metal halite lamps are around 4000K to 4500K and are white.

LED warehouse lighting, LED commercial light fixtures, and garage LED light fixtures are the most commonly used lighting. They use less energy than any other light source and provide better lighting. Led high rays are popularly known to emit clear, high-quality lighting that eliminates glare. They can last up to 100,000 life hours, and so you can save the cost of maintenance. LEDs work fabulously at any temperature.

How Bright Should the Fixtures Be?

The color of your ceiling and walls can affect the lighting of your warehouse to a great extent. Walls and ceilings painted in light colors reflect more light, and thus you can use lights with lower Lumen outputs. These fixtures consume less power, and thus you can save some money on energy costs. If your warehouse has a skylight, you can use lower Lumen power as well. Lower Lumen powers use less energy, while higher Lumen powers use more energy. Hence, before fixing the lighting of your warehouse, you must consider the color of your walls and ceilings.

What Color Temperature Should the Lights Be?

Color temperatures might not seem to be an important factor, but it important in reality. It has a huge impact on the visibility and productivity of the workplace. Color temperatures between 4000K and 5000K are the perfect choice for warehouse lighting. This range emits a cool white, sometimes bluish light, which offers great visibility and helps to reduce eye strain. The spacing of your lights is very important as well. They must not be placed too close to each other. Be sure to map out the fixtures properly before installing lights in your warehouse.

Summing Up

Proper lighting is very important for your workspace. LED warehouse lighting, LED commercial light fixtures, and garage LED light fixtures are the most popular choices. Without proper lighting, there is a good chance of accidents. You must plan out the type of lighting you want to install and map out the place where you want to install it before investing in it. Harsh lighting affects the productivity of the work, as employers experience fatigue and eye strain.
